The Amazons of Pop
She-Bam Pow POP Wizz! follows for the first time on this scale, the story of a generation of European and North American women who have bravely and extravagantly contributed to another, lesser-known facet of pop. In the 30-year history of MAMAC, the exhibition illuminates an important axis of its collection – the encounter between new realism and Pop Art – and one of its charismatic figures: the French-American Niki de Saint Phalle. As a result, it is the essential contribution of women to the history of pop that is shown here.
