THIS IS TOMORROW

Neupräsentation der Sammlung des 20./21. Jahrhunderts

Staatsgalerie Stuttgart: 29.07.2024 - 31.12.2025

"THIS IS TOMORROW presents contemporary artistic positions in dialogue with important works of the 20th century in six central collection rooms of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. Across different media, the works reflect the critical view of the body, examine questions of identity and social coexistence, deal with nature and artificial intelligence and process experiences of war and violence.
The large number of installations, paintings, media artworks, sculptures and works on paper stimulate a discourse on current social issues. Over 100 works by artists including Eleanor Antin, Marcel Duchamp, Katharina Fritsch, Hannah Höch, Käthe Kollwitz, Jeff Koons, Joseph Kosuth, Maria Lassnig, Yoko Ono and Andy Warhol enter into a dialogue with numerous new acquisitions and donations from recent years, such as works by years - such as with works by Nobert Bisky, Burhan Doğançay, Teresa Margolles, Ulrike Ottinger, Cindy Sherman, Hito Steyerl and Haegue Yang. They are complemented by selected loans such as Clément Cogitore, Simone Leigh, Anys Reimann, Deborah Roberts and Ben Willikens from the Staatsgalerie's collection as well as loans from the Scharpff-Striebich Collection, the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection and the Weishaupt Collection."
